Fundraiser description:

Let Us Rebuild Our Home Together!

“Francis, go and rebuild My House…” These words were heard by St. Francis more than 800 years ago. At first, he understood them literally – he began rebuilding the ruined church of San Damiano. Over time, he discovered that they also meant rebuilding a community of people.

Today, these same words resonate in our Franciscan monastery in Kłodzko.

For more than 700 years, this Home has served people. Since the 13th century, the Franciscan monastery and church in Kłodzko have been part of the history of the town and the entire Kłodzko Region. This was never only the Home of the Franciscan brothers. It was the Home of the people of Kłodzko. A Home for families. A Home for children and young people. A Home for pilgrims. A Home for communities. A Home for those seeking prayer, peace, support, and the presence of another person.

Over the years, meetings, retreats, workshops, and events for the local community were held here. For more than two years, the monastery also served as a shelter for refugees from Ukraine.

Everyone who crossed its threshold was welcomed here.

The flood took so much away… In September 2024, a flood struck our Home once again. The water reached almost to the ceiling of the ground floor. The interiors of the church and monastery, the refectory, installations, floors, façade, and part of the historic furnishings were destroyed. To this day, the walls are still being dried and further stages of reconstruction continue.

But there is something the flood could not destroy. Hope.

We are rebuilding more than just walls. We believe that reconstruction is about more than repairing buildings. We want to restore a Home for God and for people. A place of prayer. A place of encounter. A place of support. A place where everyone will be able to come and hear: “You are welcome here.”

This Home has always been built by Good People. Saint Francis greeted those he met with the words: “Buongiorno, buona gente!” (“Good day, Good People!”).

That is exactly what we call all those who help rebuild our Home, because for more than seven centuries it has been Good People who have kept this place alive. Some built its walls. Others saved it after wars and floods. Still others created a community here every single day.

Today, this story continues. Every contribution matters. Your donation helps finance the next stages of rebuilding the monastery and church after the flood.

Every złoty donated brings us closer to the day when this Home will once again fully serve the people of the Kłodzko Region, pilgrims, and all those in need of prayer, silence, support, or the presence of another person.

Let Us Rebuild Our Home Together!

Thank you for every prayer, every kind word, for sharing information about this fundraiser, and for every donation.

Thank you for becoming part of the history of a place that has served people for more than 700 years.

Peace and Goodness!
